Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of important component of Chinese Medicine and has been practiced more than two thousand years from China to all over the world. In acupuncture practice, the acupuncturist will use different sizes of sterilised, disposable acupuncture needles; inserts the needles into acupuncture points which are allocated in channels and vessels through the whole body. The acupuncture needles are normally really fine and the sizes can be variable from 0.13mm to 0.25mm wide with different length. Also by using different manipulation, acupuncture can regulate the “qi”, “blood”, “yin” and “yang” energy in the body to get the effect of tonifying the deficiency and reducing/removing the stagnation or pathological accumulation from Chinese medicine pint of view.

How does Acupuncture work?

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles, a healthy body is full of vital energy (in TCM called “Qi”) which is kept in a delicate balanced distribution to all organs and unobstructed flow along meridians. If there is any internal imbalance or blockage in Qi, disorders will occur.  By inserting the sterilised needle into the acupoints along the meridians, different treatment effects will be achieved.
For example, from the following two published peer reviewed academic articles, indicated that acupuncture can be benefit for general woman health problems and improved the IVF pregnancy rate during the treatment.
From 2012, all qualified chinse medicine practitioners registered nationally under the policy and standard of Chinese Medicine Registration Board. The qualified acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine practitioner need to follow all standards and management regulations to ensure the health service’s quality.
